5 Quick Tips From A Travel Agent

Hey All! This is Rachel and I am a travel agent helping clients across the US plan their dream vacation. Below are some quick and easy tips to remember before your next trip!

1. Stay Hydrated On The Plane

With dry air circulating the same setting for hours at a time, airplanes are known for their arid environments that can quickly lead to dehydration. As a traveler, there is no worse feeling than starting your vacation with a headache from the long flight. To combat this demise, drink responsibly by skipping the caffeine and alcohol selections and opting for a vitamin drink instead.

These can often be purchased at the gate, or else bring along a powder packet that can be dissolved in water. Be sure your drink is high in electrolytes, such as magnesium, potassium and sodium, as these ingredients are crucial for maintaining hydration. Try out this simple step on your next flight, and you will depart that plane refreshed and ready to take on your dream vacation!

  2. Download a Packing List

Packing for your trip doesn’t have to be a big ordeal! When considering weather changes, broad activities, legal restrictions & emergencies, it is understandable how the prospect of packing can be a daunting task. Adding to the stress is last-minute items and that dreadful feeling that something important has surely been forgotten.

One easy way to eradicate this anxiety is to simply check against a pre-prepared packing list. With a quick Google or AI search, a packing list can be procured, complete with all the major items needed for your trip. This step will save lots of time and hassle, with the peace of mind that comes with the knowledge that nothing vital is missing.

3. Pack an Emergency Kit

Adding on to the above tip, be sure to pack a pre-prepared emergency kit before your vacation. Think about the nature of your trip and supply your equipment accordingly. For example, extra provisions may be appropriate for a camping expedition, but unnecessary at an all-inclusive resort. Some items to consider including are first-aid items, spare batteries, sewing kits and hygiene products.

4. Digitally Copy Important Documents

My last two tips refer to the documentation that can be the difference between a refreshing vacation and immense stress. The first is to make digital copies of all important documents- such as IDs, passports and visas- before your trip. This can be done easily by taking pictures on your phone, or emailing scans to yourself. If keeping images containing private information on your phone, I would recommend hiding them in a password or face ID-protected folder. By taking an extra minute to digitally copy your documents, you can potentially save a lot of time, hassle and unnecessary expenses that may arise the event one of your documents is lost, stolen or damaged.

5. Check Visa & Passport Requirements

Finally, be sure to research any visa and passport requirements for your international travels. ABriggs.com is a great resource if you are unsure which travel documents are needed, and how to obtain them. Their website is easy to use, with a simple and intuitive document search on their home page. For assistance, feel free to reach out to me directly.
